Hibiscus Luna White – Graceful Blooms with a Scarlet Heart
Hibiscus Luna White is a stunning, easy-to-grow perennial that brings elegance and charm to any garden. From July until September, it produces an abundance of large, pure white flowers with striking red centers that create a beautiful contrast against the deep green foliage.
This hardy perennial grows up to 5 feet tall, and each year it returns stronger, sending up more stems and even more blossoms. After the first fall frost, the stems naturally die back, but the roots overwinter safely in the ground, ready to burst back to life in spring.
The hibiscus calyxes can be used to make a warming and soothing herbal tea. The tea brews to a rosy-pink or scarlet color and has a pleasant tart flavor similar to cranberry.
How to Harvest Calyxes

Wait until petals start to fade or fall off – at this stage, the calyx (the green or slightly reddish cup at the base of the flower) has fully developed and contains the best flavor and color for tea.

Remove the calyx from the stem – gently twist or snip it off, leaving the stem behind.

Clean and dry – rinse briefly to remove any dirt or insects, then dry in a cool, dark, ventilated place.
How to Grow Hibiscus from Seed
Hibiscus seeds take time and patience to germinate — but the reward is well worth it.
1️⃣ Soak the seeds in warm water overnight before planting.
2️⃣ Sow seeds indoors, twice as deep as their size, in pots or seed trays with moist soil.
3️⃣ Keep soil evenly watered until seedlings appear.
4️⃣ When seedlings reach about 6 inches tall, transplant them outdoors in a sunny spot, leaving 3 feet of space around each plant.
5️⃣ Remember — it’s a perennial, so your hibiscus will return every spring, growing larger and more spectacular year after year.
