Ella Dill Herb Seeds

Dill (Anethum graveolens) has been cultivated for more than 3,000 years, treasured since ancient times for both its culinary and medicinal qualities. Originating in Europe, it remains a favorite herb in Russian and German kitchens today.

Culinary Uses

Fresh dill leaves add a bright, aromatic flavor to salads, soups, and fish dishes. The flowering crowns and leaves are traditional ingredients in pickling, lending their distinctive fragrance to homemade pickles. Dried leaves and seed heads are often used in winter as a flavorful condiment, bringing a refreshing “taste of summer” to cold-weather meals.

Medicinal & Traditional Uses

In folk medicine, dill has long been valued for its ability to ease stomach discomfort and bloating. Herbal tea made from dried leaves and flowers is known to gently relieve gas and colic, even in infants — a tradition so trusted that “dill water” is still sold in European pharmacies today.

About the Ella Variety

Dill plants can grow tall — up to 4–5 feet — and usually become woody once flowering begins. The Ella variety, however, stays leafy, bushy, and tender for longer than most other types. Even as it begins to bolt, the foliage remains lush and green, and the stems stay soft and juicy.
To encourage continuous leafy growth, remove flowering stems early while they are still young and crisp.
