Sunflower Russian Mammoth
The classic Russian Mammoth sunflower lives up to its name with towering plants and huge flower heads up to 30 cm across. This open-pollinated heirloom produces abundant medium-sized seeds (about 1.5 cm long) with dark grey hulls accented by distinct white stripes.
The seeds are edible and delicious, perfect for roasting, snacking, or saving as bird feed. When in bloom, the massive golden flowers draw in bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, while later in the season the ripened heads are a magnet for small birds who love to snack on the seeds.
