Onion Seeds – Grown for Canadian Gardens
We grow and offer several varieties of onions that thrive in the Canadian climate, all carefully selected for their flavor, hardiness, and reliable growth.
Onions prefer rich, well-drained soil and plenty of sun. Interestingly, the soil type can affect their flavor — the more clay in the soil, the more pungent and robust the onion becomes.
You’ll find onions in three classic bulb colors — yellow, red, and white — each with its own taste and kitchen use. In addition to bulb-forming types, there are also delicious leafy varieties like leeks, scallions, and Welsh onions, prized for their tender green shoots rather than bulbs.
Onions are a true global staple — used in nearly every cuisine for their unmistakable aroma and depth of flavor. Beyond the kitchen, onions have been valued for centuries for their medicinal properties. Naturally antibacterial, they’re believed to help boost “good” cholesterol (HDL) when eaten raw and support overall wellness.
